Kent T. Campbell, Director of Student Housing -- Kent recently joined IAS to head up the Company’s move into the Student Housing sector, including off-campus student communities and privately financed on-campus opportunities.  He is a former Executive Vice President and Development Manager for Capstone Development, a national student housing firm, where he managed numerous development projects, including on- and off-campus student apartment communities, student-oriented condominiums, and luxury sports-oriented condominiums.  In 2007, Kent created Cubed, LLC, a Birmingham-based developer and consultant specializing in multifamily urban infill.  His real estate development experience spans more than 22 years and includes both multifamily and retail.

A Louisiana native, Kent is a graduate of Louisiana State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture and an MBA with emphasis on real estate development.  Over the years, he has served as construction manager, design/builder, development manager, and real estate broker.  He began his career in retail development, and has worked both the landlord and tenant side.  He has extensive student housing experience in market selection; identification, evaluation and acquisition of development sites; programming and planning residential communities and designing their components; preparing financial pro-forma analyses; obtaining required entitlements and permits; preparation of condominium documents; budget and schedule compliance; coordination of marketing and real estate sales efforts; and coordination of all efforts of the Development Team, from initial concept to project completion.

Beyond the realm of student housing, Kent’s professional interests include new urbanism and traditional neighborhood development, modular building systems, and modern architecture.  Kent lives in Birmingham with his wife and step-daughter, and enjoys sailing in his free time.
